English Remedial Group

Hi boys

Your names are highlighted for the 2-weeks intensive revision.

You will be scheduled for a personalised remedial in your focused areas.

The 3 groups are :
1) Narrative writing
2) Comprehension skills
3) Summary skills

Please see the attachment to familiarise yourself with the dates, venues and the pre-requisites before seeing me.

A copy will be put up in class.

Class 1 : Narrative Focused Group

Date : Week 4 and 5
Time : 4-5pm
Venue: Computer Lab 1

Approach :
1 A personalised review on specific weakness by teacher (15mins)
2 Students take a pro-active stand to review the checklists of mistakes and self-monitor their own writing by re-working on a piece of work (start with SA1 free writing)
3 Student to submit 1 more composition on e-composition
4 Student comment on 1 e-composition


Focused areas in Free Writing 1) Structures of a narrative, 2) How to be creative in Plots, 3) Boost your Language

Expectation:
Attendance is compulsory, unless there is evidence that strong and construction interventions are undertaken by the students.

Set their own target for improvement: 1) Focus areas, and 2) Marks in CA2, for this remedial program.


Class 2 : Comprehension Skills

Focused Area: Revision on reading strategies at sentence level. Focusing on WORDS in context.

Date : Week 6 and 7
Time : 4-5pm
Venue: Computer Lab 1

Resource: Using text from RB and teacher’s resource on Reading Scaldfolding

Class 3 : Summary skills

Focus on PARAPHRASING, to be covered in Week 9 & 10
